Know the difference between the different carpet retailers in the UK. Free information on carpet and some general advice for consumers.
High Street Carpet Retailers
High street carpet retailers work on their distribution channels to minimise their overheads. This allows them to open a chain of stores throughout the UK and in some cases around the world. By sharing the cost amongst the chain of established high street stores they are able to buy large quantities of carpets at a reduced price.
Often high street carpet retailers use their own company brand on certain selection of carpets. This is done to prevent price checks and matches to other carpeting retailers.
They do generally stock the largest selection of samples and have a number of different styles available. The employees have good product knowledge and have professional carpet installers in-house. Negotiating delivery and installation can be achieved with the right tactics.
Online Carpet Wholesalers
Potential customers register an interest online for certain style, colour or fabric and a sample is sent to your home.
Buying from a carpet wholesaler is a cheaper solution compared to the high street stores. They do offer quality carpets not discounted rates. I would recommend searching the internet for complaints about these carpet companies. The terms and conditions normally catch consumers out. Restrict no returns policies and delivery charges must be taken into consideration before any contracts are signed.
Family Owned Carpet Store
You will recognise the local shops and retailers in your area. Repeat custom keeps these types of shops open. They offer good quality carpets, excellent product knowledge and local installers.
They sometimes cannot compete on price with the other carpet retailers mentioned, but they also make time to help and answer any questions you may have.
