Superb Teensy Dollhouse Accessories: Arrangement Concepts

Modern, Victorian, Classical - The Standards of Design

Creating style can be more intense than what you have previously thought, what era will your dollhouse resemble? Each piece of furniture will belong to a certain room, but you must also realize that each room should connect with each other. This is creating a styling theme. In dollhouse furniture, kits and accessories there are three major themes that you could choose from. Victorian is the first major theme, it is recognized by the embellishments in furniture through long curved lines, elaborate fabric, and old fashioned pieces. If you want to stand out or go with a more up to date style, Modern design will give you simplicity, technology, and some great straight lined pieces. The last is Traditional furniture - it is more about functionality than design, giving you the pieces of furniture that you might find in a local store which is great to make a replica, or to just make your dolls feel at home.

Planning and Preparation with your Miniatures

Plan your dollhouse design, and expect to follow that plan. A plan of action is crucial because it will keep you on a track leading to success. The essentials that you will want to have to start are a floor plan and a budget. A floor plan can be as simple as a sketch that was drawn by hand or a print of a room that you would like to copy. In order to help you look for some room examples to start on the internet and in local stores. Take a note book and jot down things that you would like to add, modify, or change with your plan. If you see something in your notes worthy of changing your plan, then go ahead and do it. Now budget those items that you are interested in and try hard not to go over it. Unfortunately for hobbyists miniatures can get a little expensive. And if you can't buy the furniture piece yet, save up until you can.

Furniture Placement Can Give You a New Look

Have you ever found yourself confused as to the correct layout of your dollhouse furniture? Here are a couple of placement strategies that may be of benefit to you. The two most common layout designs is the triangle and the square. In the triangle layout you will have three major pieces of furniture and place them at the ends of an imaginary triangle, each of the pieces are turned in and the look is very symmetrical. The next example is that of the square, take four pieces of furniture and arrange them so that they make a square in the room. You can also use the square approach with five pieces; just place the extra piece in the middle. The square and triangle layouts are the most common, but do try many other shapes like an ellipsis, octagon, or even a bell curve.

Size: Very Important in Design

When setting up your dollhouse and buying furniture you will need to remember the three sizing constraints. The first sizing element of miniatures is the scale, the second is the room dimensions, and third is sizing miniatures next to one another. First is the scale of furniture, make sure that your furniture is the right scale for your dollhouse. Meaning, you should check your dollhouse scale, if it is quarter inch you need quarter inch furniture. Size element is the second point, and this is as simple as making sure that your furniture will actually fit in the room. The actual furniture dimensions should be located at the store or website that you bought it at, simply measure and compare. The last point is relative size; this means that within a room you can coordinate the pieces. Larger pieces will have more of a prominence so if you really want to make your china cabinet pop you shouldn’t make the dining room table so elaborate.
