Support Your Words With Non-verbal Communication
When you want to express something, words alone are useless. Fortunately, your body's instinct is to reflect and move in harmony with the emotion entailed, whether your message requires a firm telling off or a gentle approach. Body language plays a very important part in enhancing interpersonal communication. Whenever you're verbally communicating something, in addition to reinforcing your message, hand signals particularly reflect your desire for your message to be taken seriously. If you watch any politician making a public statement, you'll notice that his hands move in a precise, controlled manner. There are no wasted gestures, politicians are well-schooled to make just specific gestures that paint a clear picture and convey the message most accurately. Non-verbal communication is a very powerful tool if you know how to use it in your advantage. If you carefully time, focus and control your actions, moving in synchronicity with the spoken word and responding properly to the atmosphere in a certain environment, you can win over whomever you want, or firmly dismiss others. If you have to give someone some bad news, you can soften the blow by adapting your body language in order to reflect empathy. Move close to the person you're talking to, and lean your body forward, towards him/her. If the situation allows it, you may even touch her hand or arm for comforting. You can express anything much more accurately if you support your spoken word with non-verbal communication. Use your gestures to be more convincing, and your message will be much clearer and more accurate.
