Surprise Needs Home Security Systems

A couple of highly organized burglars from Surprise, Arizona had their system backfire on them recently when law enforcement officers served a search warrant on their home. The police seized notebooks containing a careful record of everything they had apparently taken during burglaries. The police believe it was probably not the couple’s intention to incriminate themselves but it definitely helped to increase the case against them. Unfortunately the victims of the burglaries were not owners of home security systems and many of them will never see their valuable possessions again.

For some time there had been burglaries occurring in the area of Surprise and the police suspect the man and woman team are responsible. They were caught when a victim of a break-in found a set of his stolen golf clubs at a used sports equipment store in the town. He called the authorities who soon traced the stolen item to the suspects.

They also found in the couple’s residence several more sets of golf clubs, appliances, a safe and a few flat screen TVs. The ledgers and notebooks they discovered recorded certain data such as whether or not the pair had found doors or windows unlocked and if residents were at home when they broke in. The police also found real estate flyers for open houses with notations regarding appliances and electronic equipment in the homes. The detectives believe the suspects scoped out homes before they entered them unlawfully.

With this evidence in hand the duo was arrested on suspicion of burglary and trafficking stolen property. The Surprise police are encouraging residents to record the serial numbers on their property, since they will need that to identify their belongings before they can be returned if found. They are also asking people to help prevent their homes from being burglarized by taking the necessary steps to protect their homes.

Wireless home security systems are tamper-proof by even the most technically-savvy burglar and law enforcement agencies across the country recommend security equipment to discourage break-ins. A motion sensor will sound an alarm when triggered and instantly alerts a monitoring center to notify the authorities of a burglary in progress. For the most part, the police can get to the scene before the perpetrators have gone too far.
