Swimsuits To Fit Your Shape

The word swimsuit strikes fear into the hearts of many women-and let’s not even go near the dreaded bikini, but whether it’s for a summer holiday or a keep fit regime, every girl needs one. So how do you choose one that’s right for your shape? Well first you need to know your shape. There are lots of places to help you with this: maybe your favourite fashion magazine has done a feature or you can Google ‘body shapes’. Got yours? Brilliant, now flaunt it!

There are a lot of different names for body shapes, but they roughly fall into four categories: pear (or spoon), hour glass, straight (or ruler/rectangle) and cone (or cornet). Sometimes a part of your body differs from these shapes and that’s ok, there’s a swimsuit out there for you-promise.

Ladies with broad shoulders: this is nothing to be ashamed of-you will have a striking shape and exude confidence. But if you don’t want your shoulders to dominate your look then stay away from the halter necks. They are everywhere and they do nothing but broaden you further.

Those who do suit a halter neck are ladies with an amble bosom. Often halter neck suits have full cup support and under wired ones are even better to keep everything in place. If you want to minimise your curvaceous figure go for large bold prints on top or dark colours.

Those who roughly fit into the pear category need balancing out. Try a swimsuit with some shaping support in the lower half and a different colour on the top. Keeping the colour to a dark tone on the bottom and a brighter on top (such as black on bottom and pink on top) will draw attention to your upper body and balance out your look.

Straighter ladies and those with a more sporty and compact physique can go sporty with their swimsuit too. Shapes and lines with splashes of colour and panels will give you shape. If you also have a smaller chest you can opt for a swimsuit with support to add more shape.

Lucky lovelies with an hour glass figure of any size: you can pretty much go for it and have fun too. 50s inspired styles will suit your curves and synch you in at that all important waste. Patterns are safe as long as you are balanced on top and bottom and vibrant colours will make your fab figure stand out in the crowd.

Women with a cone shape also suit 1950’s styles as they have gorgeous tiny waists which deserve to be shown off. If you’re feeling daring then go for the new celeb style with a stomach panel to really accentuate your tiny tum in a white or cream.
