Tv Watchers Are Cutting The Cord
The big difference this year will merely be the multitude of connected devices available in stores, all offering TV shows and movies for less, along with the options of web content. This brand-new generation of viewing alternatives, from ’table pcs to connected TV sets, will sway many that they can live without satellite and cable, and particularly live without the $70-100 monthly bills. In previous years people heard about cord cutting but didn't seriously consider it. But this year it will not have be shoved into their faces. At the Consumer Electronics Show there will be a lot of advertisement around Internet-connected TV. Viewers will have an opportunity to compare traditional television and Web based broadcasting. All the big manufacturers will be unveiling connected devices at the CES. This will lend to tremendous growth in the industry. Not only will every bit of hardware be connected, the web options available to the viewer will be unparalleled too. From smartphones to tablets to Blu-Ray and the TV’s themselves, they will all be pushing Netflix, Hulu Plus, Youtube and many other TV/movie viewing options. Currently, only 5% of viewers that have connected TV are using online video services. But this number will rise sharply as public perception of what connected TV is and how to use it changes. Imagine being able to pay a low monthly charge, no monthly charge, or just pay on demand to watch HD buffer free streaming from a selection of companies, where competition is fierce. Viewers are now comfortable paying for online content and many are already utilizing the services available. A lot more will get the revelation in the coming months.
