Tahitian Noni Juice May Aid In Lowering High Cholesterol
Doctors often caution patients to lower their levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) and studies are now showing that there may be a new weapon to fight bad cholesterol. Tahitian noni juice has shown positive results in studies recently in helping people lower their levels of LDL and see improved health.
A tree known as aMorinda Citrifoliaa produces a bumpy fruit from which noni juice is extracted. This juice has been used by indigenous peoples for thousands of years as an alternative medicine in it native habitat of the Polynesian Islands in the South Pacific. Studies are beginning to show their wisdom as this juice is being shown to have the potential for lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels leading to better health.
In one particular study, smokers who had high cholesterol levels saw major reductions in just 30 days. Smokers were used for the study since they usually have higher cholesterol levels and increased chance for heart attacks. The product's powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other cancer-fighting properties are reasons why Tahitian noni juice may lower the bad cholesterol (LDL).
Significant differences were found between the group taking the Tahitian noni juice and the placebo group in this study and the placebo groupas total cholesterol and triglyceride levels actually increased a bit during the course of the study. As a spokesperson for the study said, athis study is a rare example of good research of a dietary supplement or food that makes health claims.a Because of the differences found between the two groups a larger clinical study should be in the works soon.
Humans need some cholesterol to function, but too much is unhealthy and most often leads to coronary heart disease. The juice may prove an option to statin medicine and medications (on which Americans spent over $16 billion last year and for which we see advertised frequently on television).
The juice does have a pungent odor and a strong taste which can make it difficult for some people to take, though this can be helped somewhat through the addition of fruit juices like grape or blueberry. Also, at up to $26 a bottle it is certainly not a cheap option.
As today's population is always looking for cheaper ways to lower their cholesterol without medication, the juice may continue to grow in popularity. Even as other supplements have reportedly had an effect on cholesterol, a fruit juice seems to fit in with other alternative medicine approaches that so many doctors, patients and other nutritionists tout today.
Sales are on the rise as more headlines are pointing to the cholesterol lowering properties of Tahitian noni juice. When the study was reported by one news network the sales jumped to more than $1 billion. Hopefully word will continue to spread and more studies will be done so that greater numbers of people can benefit from this amazing product.
