Tax Relief: Notice Of Wage Levy

The Internal Revenue Service is very knowledgeable when it comes to using intimidation to coerce taxpayers into an adverse tax collection action. This will offer no tax relief whatsoever; and is, in many instances, based on insufficient facts or incomplete information.

Often when your employer receives a Notice of Wage Levy from the IRS, matters will just go from bad to worse. You will, then, not be in control of your expenses and your income will be substantially reduced. You may end up being unable to meet your bills, as well as the fact that your employer is now aware that you are having financial difficulties.

An IRS Wage Levy is a legal hold over your property and the result of this is that the IRS can now transfer your property, generally any money that you have available in the bank, to the Internal Revenue Service. Once the IRS sends the Notice of Wage Garnishment to your employer, your days of tax relief are over. Your employer must immediately begin to withhold that percentage of your paycheck that the IRS has demanded.

The Wage Levy will continue until such time as the tax debt is repaid in full and, during this time, interest still accrues on the total amount of tax you owe. In order to obtain tax relief, at this point you must consult with a professional as things can go from bad to worse. If you are married, the IRS can also issue a Notice of Wage Levy against both the marriage partners and if one partner is unaware of the severity of the others tax problem, this might go as far as to create marital problems.
