Are you searching for tips and advice to help cure stuttering? If you have answered yes to this question then you are not alone. In this article I will be writing about my own search for stuttering cure.
I started to stutter when I was just four years of age. My parents had hoped that they could quickly nip the problem in the bud by taking me to see a local speech therapist. All in all I attended different forms of speech therapy classes for the next fourteen years – my parent’s hopes of a quick resolution unfortunately did not materialise. In fact by the age of eighteen the stutter had become even more severe.
I was now disillusioned by this form of therapy, wouldn’t you be? I then looked into alternative treatments for stuttering.
I attempted many types of stuttering therapy, all with an open mind and positive attitude. I was confident that the answers were out there, I just had to find them.
There was absolutely no way that I was ever going to accept the stutter – this was something that the speech therapists had advised.
In the end there was only one thing for it – I was going to have to find and formulate my own cure for stuttering.
The stutter did erode my overall confidence however I did have an inner confidence; basically the world had never had the chance to get to know the real Steve Hill.
I worked very hard to learn how to eradicate the stutter at the age of twenty two and I had great support from my family and friends. I have to say that it was slow progress however I did eventually manage to achieve fluency.
I am now thirty four and I am happy to report that life is now better than ever, free from the trauma of stuttering.
