Telescoping Ultralight Fishing Rods/combos Are The Way To Go
If you can't answer that question, where have you been!!? Telescoping Ultralight Fishing Rods/Combos are a must have, if you ask me, for your fishing adventures. These things can be stored anywhere. I have one inside of my glove box, with a box of worms, grubs, and a popper. Anytime I see a little swirl in a pond on the side of the road, or a new pond I haven't checked out before, this is my go-to setup. It's with me at all times, literally. About the rod though.
You can get these rods in lengths usually ranging from 4'6" to 6'0". They are made of 4-6 pieces of fiberglass, typically like a 2 piece rod. The setup of the rod pieces together is different though. With a wide bottom end, tapering to a narrow top end, the rod pieces interconnect with each other, so that you can extend the rod from 12" to 6'0"!
Once you are done fishing, you push the rod pieces back down, and everything tucks away inside of the rod's handle. If you haven't ever seen a telescoping ultralight fishing rod, imagine back to when you were younger. The old Star Wars, and Extendable Swords, that would start out short, and you could sling them forward to make it longer. These rods are the same principal. You just have to align to eyes on the rod though.
If you can, find a combo. The reel is usually matched to the rod, and if you look around, you can find a good quality combo. Remember to stay away from plastic. It is typical on these types of combos. Another thing, is to make sure the fiberglass is reinforced where the pieces join together, and that the eyes are secured properly. Just make sure you are paying attention to quality when you are in the market for one of these.
When you finally add a telescoping ultralight fishing rod to your aresenal, you can catch more fish. I keep mine with me all the time, and if I am trekking through the woods, this rod with a small box of lures is a lot easier to carry than a tackle box full of money, with 2 6'6" heavy action baitcasters. If you don't have one, get one! You won't be sorry. This one item makes more time for fishing.
