Some TV stands have a swivel base so you can adjust the angle of your TV without having to turn the whole stand itself. Some stands have a steel frame and some are made of wood only.
If you want a wood television stand you can choose from wood finishes of alder, mahogany, ash, chocolate, cherry, or espresso. Many stands have shelves where you can place your DVD player, VCR, or stereo equipment.
You can pick a TV mount where your television is at eye level when you are sitting down. Or you can pick one that is higher than eye level. And you can pick a stand which is adjustable so you can change the height of your TV.
You can choose a TV stand that has doors so you can hide the components below your TV. Or one with glass doors which allow you to see the components below.
Some plasma TV stands require some assembly. Some are already assembled. If you do not have a truck you might have to have to arrange delivery for stands that are already assembled. Most are assembled today are made for flat screened TV's. These are thinner sets. If you have an older model TV remember to take this in account. You will need to find a stand with a wider base to safely set your TV on.
Some TV stands are made of glass. Their base is glass that is. Make sure you know what your TV weighs and that the glass is made to hold that amount of weight.
