Temporary Hair Extensions

When you wish your hairstyles had a bit more variety to them, or if you simply want add length or volume, hair extensions are a great alternative. Two types of temporary hair extensions include weaves and clip-in hair extensions. Weaves are sewn or bonded to your hair in the salon, and the results can last a couple of months at the most. Many people use this type of hair extensions, but some prefer clip-ins since weaves can become irritating after a while and can’t be removed without help. With clip-in hair extensions, the hair is simple attached to the natural locks using pressure sensitive clips and removed in the same fashion. A lot of women prefer clip in hair extensions because of their easy manageability and the way they provide length and volume instantly.

Clip-in hair extensions are the most temporary of the lot, seeing as how they’re simple to apply and remove, so let’s discuss them a bit more. There are two types of clip-in hair extensions, natural and synthetic. The natural kind is made with human hair and can be styled, cut and generally treated like your own hair. They can also be dried, curled, washed and dyed. Human hair clip-in extensions are more costly than synthetic ones, but if you consider the work that’s put into making them you’ll understand why. The human hair is hand selected, with shorter hairs removed so that the sections can be of the same length. It can take weeks to get a set of extensions ready, but you can rest assured that they will last much longer than synthetic extensions and require less maintenance.

With synthetic clip in hair extensions, you get various synthetic fibers, which include polyester, silicone and monofilament, and compared to natural clip-in extensions, the synthetic ones are much heavier. If you blow dry synthetic hair extensions they’ll often lay flat due to their weight or blow in the opposite direction of the natural hair they’re attached to. You can’t dye synthetic clip-in hair extensions, and they are much harder to wash and maintain than the natural ones.

Going with natural clip-in hair extensions is a wise choice, not only are they much better quality, but they last longer and can be manipulated easier than synthetic extensions. If you’ve wanting to change your hairstyle temporarily, natural clip-ins are ideal.
