Test Drive Before Purchasing A New Car

Many industry experts and companies are saying that now is the time to buy a new car as there are some great deals available. When the time comes to purchasing a new car there will be many different things to consider on both the financial and comfort sides. One thing to note is that test driving a car will give you a good indication of how much the car fits your requirements.

There are potential problems to look out for when taking the car for a test drive. The first is to check the engine before pulling away. During the test drive make sure there is no smoke coming from the bonnet and that there is no excessive rattling or other noises coming from the suspension.

The steering should be responsive with no vibration being felt. Make a point to test out the brakes, the car should respond well to your pressing the brakes with the car remaining in a straight line with minimal noise. The clutch and gears need checking as well, ensure you can go through all gears without too much hassle.

When buying a car you need to ensure you carry out as many tests as possible especially buying a used car. If you are buying a used car ensure the owner has the necessary V5 vehicle registration as you will not be able to tax the car without it.

When taking a car out for a test drive, try and drive on a variety of road types to test out the suspension and tyres. This will give you a good indication as to the state of the car and how well maintained it is (if it’s a second-hand car). If you have children then take them with you to make sure they have enough space at the back and that it is comfortable.

Check the boot for sufficient space, is there enough room for luggage and shopping bags, this will be more applicable to some than others but is always worth checking. Ensure that you all instruments in the car are in full working order and that you can read them perfectly.

Other thing to look out for is to make sure you can adjust the seat and steering wheel to suit your driving style. You are about to make a significant investment so if you need to ask questions then ask them and make sure you are hundred percent satisfied before issuing payment.
