Texas Hold ‘em
Texas hold ‘em consists of 4 betting rounds. As mentioned earlier, the first round is the pre-flop round. The second round is the flop, where three cards are placed on the community after a burn card, the third round is the turn, where one card is placed on the community after a burn card, and the fourth and final round is the river, where another card is placed on the community after a burn card. The pot money, which the players will build after all the betting rounds will be awarded to the player who has the best 5 cards out of the 7 cards that he holds. (Two cards on hand and 5 cards on the community) Just like other poker variations, there are certain betting structures in Texas hold ‘em. Some of the popular concepts are the blinds, where two players are forced to bet after a certain number of turns, and the more widely known check-raise-fold concept, Where players basically regulate the bets and control their chip counts during the course of the game. When only two players remain, they will be into a heads-up round, where some of the rules are changed. The blinds may be increased and the dealer always holds the small blind. There are some popular betting variations in Texas hold ‘em, namely limit hold ‘em, no-limit hold ‘em, and pot-limit hold ‘em. Among the three, the no-limit hold ‘em is the most widely used betting procedure in the United States. There are also several rule variations used in different poker leagues, but the standard rules of Texas hold ‘em are used in both online poker and world poker tournaments.
