The Amazing Butterfly Marketing 2.0 Effect

Butterfly marketing sounds like a great name, doesn’t it? But I’ve got to tell you I didn’t know what it was when I first heard it. You’re probably in the same boat, right? Well, let me give you a little information about this effect.

There was a book a few years ago that talked about the butterfly effect (also mentioned in a movie starring Ashton Kutcher and also referenced in Jurassic Park) which basically says a small action can have unexpected but massive consequences. In this case, the idea is that a butterfly flapping its wings can lead to a massive tornado. I’m not going to walk you through the steps but, trust me, it makes sense.

Butterfly Marketing – at least the original version – was similar in concept. Basically, the idea was that you could offer something for nothing. People love getting something for nothing. That would encourage them to give you their contact information. Then you’d have a lead you could target with your other marketing – the marketing intended to sell things. At some point in the process, these people lured in by the free offer would be able to invite their friends and acquaintances.

The bottom line is a small action would cause a huge amount of viral marketing that would lead more people back to your free offer and those people would eventually, hopefully, purchase something from you.

There’s a lot more to it than that, of course. And that’s why the creator of the program actually was selling a course that taught the intricacies of the method for a whopping $2,000. That’s a lot of money, right?

Well, here’s the interesting thing. Now the same guy has completely revamped the program. He’s started from the ground up and developed the program with the Web 2.0 revolution in mind. But he didn’t just redo it and start selling it again.

No, he wanted to do something different – actually, I think he wanted to prove that his own system worked. So he paid for a large number of these courses himself and is giving them away. All you have to do is enter your contact information and voila – one of these programs is yours for the taking. That’s pretty impressive.

As a result, he has set Internet marketers all over the web talking about his program. It’s like a viral marketing frenzy. People are calling him crazy while others are saying he’s a genius. It’s amazing how much debate this Butterfly Marketing 2.0 stuff has generated. It’s pretty amazing. And I tend to think he may just be a genius.

But the real question is whether or not the program is worth the money. I think he’s definitely proven that what he says works and that it’s worth learning even if you have to pay full price for the information. In my book, actions speak louder than words and the stir he’s caused by doing exactly what he teaches you to do says it all.
