Bet Uncut was one of the most famous adult oriented television shows on broadcast cable television. The show garnered a cult following as the main premise of the videos shown were associated with over sexualized images of women and cheap lyrics.The shows agenda was to show music videos who’s taste complemented the lower standard of decency.. The BET Uncut television show concept was to broadcast low budgeted hip hop videos. With the lack of a budget, many artists used semi nude women dancing in their videos as their main selling point. This served as a powerful tool for many hip hop artists who were not signed to a major label to get their product out to the masses. Artists on major labels such as 50 Cent, Ludacris and Nelly used BET Uncut as a cheap and controversialto promote their new album by creating videos to be aired on BET Uncut.

BET Uncut had its share of infamous stars and moments. Unknown artists such as Joker the Bailbondsman, Mighty Casey and Precha are just a few of the artists who became popular from the BET Uncut show. These memorable figures became show favorites based on their video or the content of the song. The more low budget the video appeared to be, was the more popular it became Many times the quality of the songs and accompanying video were so bad that it was more comedic than anything of true quality.
The BET Uncut show also had its share of controversy. There were many people who felt that the show was degrading to women and showed them in situations that encouraged the disrespect of women. The controversy peaked in the year 2003, when rap star Nelly released the number one BET Uncut video ever, Tip Drill. The Tip Drill video was created with the intention for it to be aired on Uncut. BET Uncut had itself a wonderful run, but that came to an end in 2006 when the show was cancelled.People think that Viacaom, parent company of BET, caved into the pressure and controversy that surrounded the show. Despite being cancelled, the infamous videos live on YouTube and various websites that laud the music and the videos that came from the institution called BET Uncut.
