The Backbone Of Quality Search Engine Optimisation

It is becoming more and more apparent to companies worldwide, that the Internet is something that needs to be harnessed in order to increase productivity.

To initiate the construction of a website, a team of technical experts need to be employed, who know about coding and building interfaces and all the other things involved in making a website. They will then, eventually have a functional website in place for you. This is not to say that this is going to get you up the top of the search engine rankings, just because you have employed professionals. You now have to incorporate search engine optimisation.

The whole strategy of websites is something that needs implementing by people who have an understanding of content management in order to basically make your website receive more traffic and therefore make it more popular.

These tips give a brief introduction into how to make a website work for your business.

• Key words

Keywords are something that need to be relevant to your websites subject, and they also need to feature frequently in your website. It should be in your title tag for instance, because this will be the little bit that comes up with the search engine result. These keywords should also be in your URL and anchor text. Why? Because another aspect of getting your website to the top of those all important rankings is the amount of keywords that you have on each page. You should have 5-7% coverage for the prominent keywords and 2-3% for the not so prominent ones.

Links

Internal, inbound and outbound links are your bread and butter. Have an anchor text in an inbound link-great! This will boost your SEO process. Inbound links should preferably be getting triggered by educational and government websites (.gov and .org). The reason being that these are more credible than the sites that end in .com and .biz. Internal and outbound links should be restricted to 2-3 links per page. Old outbound links are really good, because they have previously been indexed by search engines.

• Metatags

Metatags are no longer anything to rave about. They used to be, but description and keyword Metatags are the only ones of any contemporary relevance in the ever- changing world of SEO. They are also of greater relevance if your website is language-specific.

Content

Another way of making your website a higher achiever is to use unique and relevant content. What you need to do is make sure that your content is Copyscape-proof. Another thing to focus on is how regular the content of your website is updated. Search engines will enhance your ranking if your content is being changed regularly. Do not update your website with slightly updated articles that have been on there previously, as the search engines will spot this.

Add-ons

Its quite surprising that search engine spiders are still catching up with modern technology, so although not completely relevant at the moment thing such as Flash home pages, images instead of text links, wap enabling, videos and podcasts will have a massive impact on search engine optimisation. With all these various elements making a difference, it is going to be quite some balancing act to decide what to use exactly, in order to increase the popularity of your website in the search engine rankings.
