The Best Safari Holidays In South Africa

My wife and I like to spend the Christmas holidays in unconventional places around the world. Last year we were in South Africa and we were amazed by the rich variety of wild animals and plants on this continent. Don’t just think that you need to be a wild nature fan in order to spend a few weeks in South Africa; there are many things you can do and see during your stay.

If you plan to spend your Christmas vacation on the African continent you must be prepared to leave home for at least eight days. It takes a while to get to South Africa even by plane. The shortest flight from U.S.A or U.K. takes about 10 -12 hours, but there are other means of transportation, as well, for those who do not like to travel by plane. Either way, it is worth the effort.

When I first asked my travel agent about South Africa holidays, he told me that there are three major categories of vacations: in the city, in the outdoors and on the beach. However, there are also offers that combine these categories in order for the traveler to fully understand the African culture.

During our 2010 New Year's holiday we chose a package which included a visit to the wonderful Cape Town city, to the famous Kruger National Park and Garden Route. I must say, the South African continent was a lot different than I expected. There are places where you actually feel that they were created by God’s hands. This was my first impression when we explored the Drakensberg Panorama Route and saw the beautiful views of the Blyde River Canyon.

During our visit and stay at the Kruger National Park we were able to learn many useful things about some of the most powerful animals in the world. Africans have a powerful connection with their Big Fives - Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Rhino - which is why they respect these animals so much.

Cape Town has now become my favorite city in the entire world because there is no other place with such beautiful seaside and mountain views. Here you can shop at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, you can ascend the Table Mountain by cable car and drive to the beautiful Garden Route.

As you can see there are plenty Safari holidays you can choose from, so everyone can visit South Africa. However, I recommend you to buy a special travel package because it is more affordable and much more entertaining.
