The Best Thing About Condo Living
Location, you ask? That’s pretty general, isn’t it? Sure, but location encompasses a lot of different things. At the most general level, many urban condos are located in the heart of cities. But if you break it down further – say within biking or walking distance – urban condos are near bars and restaurants, sporting events, theaters and other arts, public transportation. Unlike some of my suburban friends, I don’t have to get behind the wheel to experience just about any cultural or sporting event I want. While my job entails lots of driving in and out of the city, there are many people who choose to live without cars. They can do so because their condo if close to the place they work. People who work at home may just have to walk down the hallway to get to their desks; those who have condos near their office enjoy the next best thing. Oftentimes, they can walk to the office and avoid the hassles associated with driving and parking. If they want to go home and have lunch, they have the option. At the same time, if they want to go for happy hour or dinner after work, there probably are multiple options within a few minutes of their office or their condo. Another aspect of condo locations I enjoy is that people often come to where I am. Given my condo is so close to the activities people enjoy, they drive into the city and deal with parking. I simply meet them at the restaurant or stadium. And when it’s time to head home, I have a few-minute walk ahead of me, while my friends have to get in their cars and drive for at least a few minutes. Finally, shopping. While I am not a big shopper myself, the options within walking distance are nearly endless. There are department stores and chain stores carrying brands of clothing and home ware that everyone would recognize, to small, independent shops where you can get items you can’t get anywhere else. If I need a last-minute gift for someone, or have been thinking about the perfect present for months, I more than likely simply have to take a walk to go get it. As I said earlier in the article, everyone has reasons for living in condos. Even though location tops the list for me, I could go on and on about why I love it. But that’s a topic for another day.
