The Ccent Exam Vs The Ccna Exam

Many people are wondering what exactly the differences are between the CCENT Exam and the CCNA Exam. Some people maybe got their CCNA many years ago and need to renew it and aren't sure which test to take. Or maybe you are just starting out in the field of networking and need some direction so that you know which route to take. But before we get started I just want to say that no matter what your background is, whether you are just starting out, or have been in the networking field for a long time, but need to get certified, the best way to go is to take the ICND1 Exam which is also known as the CCENT Exam and then take the ICND2 Exam to get your CCNA Certification.

The main difference between the CCNA Exam and The CCENT Exam is the number of topics that each contains. The CCNA exam is both the ICND1 Exam and the ICND2 Exam combined but with still about the same number of questions as the single CCENT Exam. So the ICND1 Test is equally just as hard as the CCNA test. Don't let it play tricks with your mind just because it covers fewer topics that it is any easier. It's not and many people fail it for that reason. They don't go into it studying hard enough because they think it will be a breeze. You will have to study your butt off for several months to pass it.

Many topics that are now on the Cisco Exams are new because technology is always changing, so the tests are going to continue to change as well. Many of the new topics are IPv6, Wireless networking, Cable, and DSL. In order for Cisco to be able to test your ability to configure all these different technology they needed a test that they could properly do that with so that is why they created the CCENT Exam.

Rather then study for an entire six months to prepare for the CCNA Exam I recommend studying for 3 months to pass the ICND1 exam and then study another 3 months for the ICND2 exam. If you end up failing one of them it would be much better to just focus on a few topics to practice better and then retaking the smaller test rather then studying that entire 6 months, have to go back and re study all the things you studied in the first month just because it has been so long ago. And if you end up failing it you have a lot more topics that you will need to re-study before you can try to pass it again. Be smart and take the two separate tests.
