The Cateye Tl-ld 1100 Is One Powerful Tail Light

Many cyclists today are looking for a good rear light for their bike and are wondering which one they should buy. There seem to be some really bright rear lights out there that some road cyclists are using so what are they. When people ask me that question I say I really don’t know what other people are using but I do know the CatEye TL-LD 1100 is one powerful tail light for any cyclist to use night or day.

While back a few years ago things were different, this tail light has brought in a new era of rear bicycle lights. It really is the beginnings of a whole new level of bicycle safety with this light.

This light has ten mega bright LED bulbs in it all together. Six of them face back while four of them face sideways, two at each end. It is amazing and not only that but you are able to control each row independently in four different modes giving it 16 different combinations of functions to choose from.

The bulbs at each end that are facing out improve dramatically its visibility from the side which makes a big difference at intersections. It’s this extra visibility that makes this light stand out from the competition. You know when you’re riding it’s difficult to appreciate how bright your rear light is when the light is mounted under your backside facing the opposite direction you are. So it is reassuring to be able to see the glow of this tail light reflecting on the curb from the side facing bulbs as you ride at night. It makes you confident that people can’t miss seeing that you are there.

CatEye was the first manufacturer to produce a flashing bicycle light in 1964. They followed also became the first to produce a battery powered headlight in 1982. They have been a leading company in the bicycle accessories business since they started in Japan in 1946. Many of their inventions have been copied by others in the business.
One of their patented inventions is the Opticube technology for their lenses which focuses the light to make the beam ultra bright producing unequaled brightness for the amount of power used. This has two benefits. The extra brightness of course and then the length of time a set of batteries will last believed to be around 90 hours.

Another invention was the FlexTight mounting system which is straightforward and requires no tools to adhere to your bike. It is fully adjustable so you are able to mount your light in whatever position you want it any place on your bike. Though some people love this system others find it something to be desired. One person said the clamps were useless having lost two on rough roads where they simply fell off.

After trying out several lights that were similar I found the Tl-LD1100 to be the brightest rear light of the bunch. Car drivers say that the most visible bike rider on the road is the one using a taillight in flashing mode. And from my perspective there is no other led taillight offering the same intensity of all round visibility.

For me it's the ultimate tail light for my bike and it is good for both daytime and night usage.
