The Cessna 152: Why Is It A Good Choice?

As someone whose idea of weekend fun includes flying a plane over a wide open countryside, having your own small mono-engine aircraft would indeed be such a good idea. Of course, you could always have the option of just going to the nearest private airport and rent one but that would definitely be a more expensive proposition. Usually, it is not just the steep rental charges that you have to bear but also the cost of the fuel. Because of this, it is much better to just buy your own plane which you can freely use anytime that you want to.

When it comes to single engine, two-seater planes, it is the Cessna 152 that reigns supreme. You may doubt this conclusion because of the fact that such an aircraft has ceased production decades ago. But if you ask a professional pilot, they would certainly tell you that the plane is a superb performer and that it remains to be a very good choice even if it is second-hand or used already. It is necessary that you know more about the features that this particular plane has so that you can be fully convinced about buying this instead of others.

It is true though the cruise speed of the 152 is not really that high. At 123 mph, this plane is definitely one of the slower single-engine planes in the market. Its maximum speed is only 126 mph. If you are a jet pilot, this would certainly be like riding on a donkey. However, since you are using this plane just to have the rush of flying over a scenic countryside below, speed should be the least of your concerns. What you would need is a plane that could make you enjoy the sights below, not one that could get you to one location from another at the shortest possible time. And since it is not very fast, you could certainly maneuver it more easily.

The Cessna 152 is a very inexpensive aircraft. Believe it or not, a brand new car can be more costly. This alone should tell you why it is a good choice if you are planning to buy a plane. Because the overall value of this plane is not very high and because it is considered also as one of the safest of its kind, you can expect the insurance premiums to be inexpensive also. Insurance firms usually impose higher premiums on planes that are considered as risky but not with the 152. Another plus factor is that the maintenance cost of such aircraft is not also very high. This aircraft is not just easy on the air; it is also kind to your budget, which is why it is a very good choice.
