Even if the production of the Cessna 180 was stopped in 1981 the popularity of the plane only increased on a latest online survey. The plane uses a semi-monocoque structure with exterior skins are riveter to the formers and longerons of the plane. The plane’s wings are a strut-braced that also constructed with an exterior skin sheet which is riveted to spars and ribs. Another unique design in the Cessna 180 is its landing gear which is consists of spring steel for its main gear and a tailwheel that is steerable and mounted on a hollow tube that is tapered steel.

There is one instance in history that the Cessna 180 played a very important role. This is when the first woman pilot named Geraldine Mock did a record flight of successfully flying around the world. She used the 1953 model and the record flight was made in 1964. The original plane which was used in this flight is now available at the National Air and Space Museum. This situation only increased the popularity of the plane and its manufacturer.
