Fredericton is the capital of the New Brunswick province. It is a pretty city that features a number of attractions which include a very large frog. This famous frog is a sort of beloved mascot for the town. The nineteen kilogram pet is now in a glass case at the York Sunbury Museum. It first appeared on the boat of a local inn keeper named Fred Coleman in 1885 and it was at three point six kilograms. Coleman fed the frog until it became the world largest frog and a pet! Today Coleman Frog T—shirts are a popular item in this area. Aside from the frog the officers Square, the city central park and other sites are popular spots. There once was also the site of a military parade ground.

Outside of Fredericton there is Gagetown which is a charming village on the banks of Gagetown Creek. One of the oldest English settlements in the area, Gagetown is an artists haven today due to its featuring pottery shops, galleries and the like.


The name Saint John is never abbreviated so as to avoid confusion with the capital of Newfoundland which is written as St. John. Saint John which sits at the mouth of the Saint John River is the oldest incorporated city in the country. But it is probably best known for its Moosehead Beer and Reversing Falls.

The city of Moncton is the major transportation and distribution center for the Atlantic provinces. There are some attractions in this area. Magnetic Hill is a site where a car or bike at the bottom of a hill will drift upward. The Rocks Provincial Park features unusual erosions from the great tides. It is a great experience to walk among these rocks on the wet sandy bottom when the tide is out.
