The Different Types Of Engagement Rings

Engagement rings are often one of the most life changing and expensive items you will ever buy. There is often quite a lot of pressure and stress on men to pick the right one as if they don't will the lady really say yes?

Well hopefully however choosing a great bit of bling will help you feel confident about doing it. In order to pick the perfect ring you need to know what styles and designs are available. It may be advisable to set a budget before you shop as if not you can get a little carried away.

The first part to selecting the perfect ring is choosing what shape of diamond you would like. There is plenty of choice; circular, square and emerald cut rings are the most popular type of engagement rings. An emerald cut is a more rectangle diamond and looks very modern. You can also pick from less traditional shaped engagement rings such as pear shaped, heart shaped, cushioned shaped and marquis shaped rings. It comes down to personal taste however once you have picked the diamond you like it will determine the setting of the ring that you choose.

You now need to select the type of cut you would like for the ring, there a three to choose from which are; the step cut, the brilliant cut or the hybrid cut. A step cut gives your engagement ring a square look compared to the brilliant cut which has a more rounded finish and finally a hybrid cut combines both the style of the step and brilliant cut. For people that are concerned about the price then a step cut is the normally the cheapest option however they are still very sophisticated. A brilliant cut tends to give a very shiny finish which is usually more popular as most new brides want their ring to sparkle.

There is of course completely different ring options available such as a Celtic or art Deco style which for some people is an affordable and unique option. Many people do not just want one big diamond, three-stone engagement rings are also very popular nowadays.

Many families also have rings in their families which are considered heirlooms and will choose to pass it to their new wife. This often makes a very sentimental engagement ring with a great deal of history and is a very touching way to ask someone to marry you.

An engagement ring is a choice which is completely personal and requires a great deal of thought. An engagement ring will be on your wives hand for the rest of her life and will be one of the most treasured pieces of jewellery she will ever own. Make sure you get adequate insurance for the ring which covers not only the setting but the diamonds as it could be extremely costly if you do not and something happens to your beautiful ring.
