The Do's And Don'ts Of Depression

Depression can affect all of us at some point in our lives. It can get a hold on you it and it can be hard to overcome. The following list may help. They are a few Do’s and Don’ts that you may find helpful in getting on the road to recovery.

Do allow yourself a good cry. It will help release your pent up emotions.

Do talk it out with friends or family. Don’t keep your emotions bottled up inside you.

Do take time to pray. Not only about your own concerns, which is fine, but also pray for others.

Do watch your diet. Sugar and Carbs may make you feel good initially, but they are bad for keeping you down.

Do eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Try more whole grains and lean proteins to get your brain going in the right direction.

Don’t drink a lot of coffee or sodas. The caffeine and sugar will only upset your brain chemistry.

Do drink a lot of water. I know water isn’t always the most exciting beverage, but it is essential for healthy brain function.

Don’t sleep too much! Not only will it keep you in a vegged out state, it can also give you a headache. Avoid those daytime naps.

Do get active, try cleaning your house or just one room. Cleaning and organizing can make you feel more in control of your surroundings.

Do put on some happy music and liven it up a bit. You will feel a lot better.

Don’t camp out in front of the TV. Turn it off and pick up a good book or even better, meditate.

Do get outdoors and get some sunshine. Take a nice long walk. It helps to change your scenery.

Do plan future activities or make to do lists. Planning for the future assures better days in the future. Keep optimism alive and you will beat depresion!.
