The Duties Of Shop Fitters

The duties of shop fitters are varied. On one instance they can carry out the duties of material managers and stock takers while on the other hand they can be found dealing with designing and constructing of fittings in stores, in offices, and even in banks. Their varied duties demand that they have a proper background in education and this should include studies in interior design, in marketing and trade, carpentry or woodwork, and even in stock management. All of these studies work together to create the seemingly interesting but very demanding jobs that fitters do.

Normally shop fitters do not have premises of work. Together with their tools of trade they often move in vans going from one store to another and from one public facility to another challenging the owners with their design ideas. Once the fitters are given contracts to work they can put in as many as 40 hours of work all in a bid to finish on the projects in the earliest time possible. The long hours are partly due to the fact that these fitters are required to do their work perfectly and with as little disruption of businesses as possible. Luckily for many fitters working fast is not a problem and they can even be done with some projects in one day.

The products that shop fitters offer to their clients normally come in the form of packages. A particular fitter come to a client with a design theme for a store, the colours that should be included in the store, how different stalls should be organised, the kinds of merchandise that should be displayed, and how displays should be set out. In the end the job of fitters is intended to make a store more appealing so that it can have more customers. Payment for the packages is done differently depending on factors such as the experience of a fitter and if the fitter will take on additional duties such as those of supervision of delivery men and other workers.

In carrying out their duties, shop fitters should show the ability to communicate well with their clients and they should also be friendly enough so that their work with other workers can be smooth. In as much as the packages that fitters show to clients are designed prior, they should be customised to fit with individual clients and this is where communication and negotiation skills come in handy for a fitter.
