The Effects Of Stress -what It Can Do To You
Even apparently trivial bouts of stress, if they become too frequent, can turn into a permanent and serious condition if not dealt with properly. Some people who experience stress for long periods of time have feelings of burnout, constant anxiety, depression or panic attacks. You can usually prevent stress from reaching such levels if you pay attention to its symptoms when it first appears. If you don't learn how to deal with stress in small doses, it often gets worse over time, and then it can be a real threat to your health and well being. The best way to deal with stress is to acknowledge it and seek effective ways to deal with it, even if it appears to be something minor. In most cases, stress is unwanted and potentially dangerous. Some stress, though, is needed to stimulate us and prevent us from getting bored. That's why people often seek out experiences that are stressful yet exciting, from roller coasters to horror movies to mountain climbing and skiing. Such activities are usually defined as exciting rather than stressful, all because they're done voluntarily and the conditions are usually controlled. When we feel that events we didn't choose are just happening to us, this is the negative type of stress. You may be able to take a stressful issue and look at it differently, and see it as a new challenge that has something to teach you. The jury is still out on whether or not stress can give you a serious health problem, but evidence suggests that it can worsen their impact. Whether or not stress causes cancer, studies do suggest that learning how to deal with stress can reduce the chances of recurrences or having the disease spread. The simple notion that only people with certain personality traits get cancer is generally dismissed by doctors and researchers. Stress management, though, does seem to be relevant when it comes to recovering from many illnesses. Studying the effects of stress can be useful, as the more we learn about it, the more motivated we become to control it in our own lives.
