The Empirical Has No Clothes!
The auto industry ironically is also the industry most impacted by that lack of honest debate. Governmental regulations, which promise to become even more intrusive with the advent of an unfettered democratic party in control of the executive and legislative branches of government. The party that has shown a complete disinterest in facts, hell bent on making life in america as restrictive as possible; driven by hysteria, and emotionalism. What people seem to miss or don’t seem to care about, is just how important issues like man made global warming and the radical environmentalist movements are to the way we live our everyday lives. We need desperately to upgrade our oil refining infrastructure, but we can’t because the left blocks every opportunity to build more refineries. We have oil but we can’t exploit it because the left blocks every plan to get it. Which has the effect of creating false shortages for a commodity that we should be swimming in. The democrats know that the amount of land impacted by drilling in the ANWR for example, is analogous to a postage stamp on a football field. Not to mention the Alaskans could use the work. Yet, the left blocks it, Isn’t that the reason we snagged Alaska in the first place? it couldn’t be the good hunting, liberals hate that too. Meanwhile, leftists like the high priest of Gaia Al Gore, continue to be taken seriously when they say Americans have to sacrifice, while he can have a bigger carbon footprint than Godzilla, because he can afford to buy carbon offsets from his own company that sells, you got it, carbon offsets. Which means Al doesn’t have to sacrifice like the rest of us. So all this regulatory activity has the effect of making your car cost more money than it should and so does the fuel that goes into it. Have you priced out the cost of one of those hybrids? So, we force our car companies to tool up and build cars that no one wants yet. Thats right folks, it wasn’t until the price of gas skyrocketed that anybody but the Hollywood elite took those little hybrids out for a test drive. And as soon as gas prices dropped so did the demand for those eco-cars. Do people really think that the auto makers kept making those SUVs because they are dumb? The truth is that the left really isn’t all that comfortable with people being able to do what they want, Because they are smarter than you and know better than you do, what you should want. So, to save the environment that really isn’t in trouble, as I point out in my article “Brrr... This Global Warming Sure Is Cold.” They recommend that we buy products that actually can and do have a negative effect on the environment. Products like hybrid and electric cars, that run on batteries made with toxic materials that need to be disposed of in very specific ways, or they can cause very real damage, to the environment and to the health of people and animals. And since we don’t yet have the companies in place that produce those batteries in the quantities that we need to make the technology affordable, we depend on foreign suppliers. Which would have the effect of making us as dependent on those foreign battery suppliers as we are on foreign oil suppliers. In fact we will have to depend on foreign companies to recycle the used batteries that will begin to pile up as well, because the cost of recycling domestically would be cost prohibitive because of the regulations placed on handling the hazardous materials that go into making those eco-friendly cars are so...hazardous. And the foreign companies don’t care if their employees have the proper procedures to handle the stuff carefully, ergo it will always be cheaper to let the foreign companies do it. The liberals don’t care, it’s not their family and friends doing the work. They also don’t care if you can afford to buy a car, you are probably fat and need to ride a bike or walk to work anyway. Or use public transportation. So much for the open road. Heck your ancient ancestors seldom traveled more than a few miles from the place they were born as they lived out their feudalistic existence serving the protectors of the land, and they were happy. The big eight hundred pound gorilla in the room is that even if you have an electric car, you still have to supply it with power, and that power is generated in most instances by some sort of fossil fuel. Somewhere a power plant is chugging along burning something to make the electricity powering your lean mean green machine, and it probably won’t be a nuclear power plant, because the left hates those too. Then you have the Compact fluorescent lights (CFLs), these little gems last longer than Edison’s brain child and use less energy. Just don’t drop one or throw them away, unless you have a serviceable haz-mat suit in the house. Check out what you have to do with one of these little “green” babies when it comes time to get rid of them, or you break one. On the Environmental Protection Agency website, they have a whole section just on disposing of CFLs right here. Just make sure you have plenty of mason jars on hand. Somehow this all makes sense to the liberals. Don’t bother pointing out that carbon dioxide is one of the most innocuous elements on earth, you can breath it out when you exhale, you can chug it with reckless abandon when you are doing a Dew, and it makes up just 0.0384 of 1% of the earths atmosphere. All that doesn’t matter, the science is in, their is no more room for debate. Besides, you are probably to dumb to understand anyway.
