A hard drive is a computer component or equipment that stores or holds the data on the computer. The operating system is stored in hard drive. All the computer needs atleast one hard drive to store its operating system, programs and user’s data.
The computer usually have internal hard disk but as the computer systems have evolved and different needs, threats, and circumstances have arisen, the additional external hard drive has become extremely popular. An external hard drive is fixed outside the CPU case and it has it owned enclosure.
The enclosure is slightly larger than the hard drive itself and it may have sometimes cooling fan. The external hard drive is extremely portable. The user can store data in hard drive can easily move data from one computer to another. It is connected to the computer with a high-speed interface cable. The interface cable allows the external hard drive to communicate with the computer so that data may be passed back and forward. the most common types of interface that are in used are USB and FIREWIRE.
It is a very use full equipment it allows users to tack back up and to store important data which is separated from the main internal hard drive which could be damaged or loss by the online and offline activities. We can store a large amount of data, mp3files,videos,etc safely and securely. Whencomputer is on we can even leave external hard drive turned off. For transferring the data from one computer to antoher you just have to plug in the external hard drive to the computer from which you want to copy the data after plug in the hard drive you can easily copy the data and again plug in to the other computer in which you want to transfer the data.
It is very costly but it is cost efficient it has many uses .
The main advantage is its vast and large memory.
