The Features You Need To Look For In A Fishing Chair
When most people go angling on the bank of their favorite stream, they typically just pick up the tackle box and rods and leavehead out. They probably won't think about how necessary fishing chairs are to their expeditions, or how comfortable it would be to have one. Unless you are one of the fishermen that just walks the shore, you might want to think about spending money on a nice fishing chair to add to your arsenal of stuff to take to the lake. Manufacturers are adding a lot more features to the chairs they are putting out, and you can often find some pretty good deals if you shop around enough.
Above all when it comes to finding a fishing chair, you are going to want to look for some features. I have found a few that are so comfortable, that you can pull your hat brim down, soften the tension, and take a rest until the drag winds up. This is a great way to enjoy the stream, and one that I implement quite often. I call this fishing, instead of catching. You can't get this type of peace with those cheap vinyl fishing chairs though, so keep that in mind.
If you take any kind of beverages with you, you are going to want a good fishing chair that has a couple bottle holders on it. Having to set your sodas on the grass means that ants and other crawlers can get into it, or you are going to end up knocking it over from walking around. It happens to me all the time, and having a useful set of water holders on the chair lets you put a drink on one side, with your keys, phone, and other small items on the other side. Most chairs come with these, but you would be amazed at the amount that don't.
The last feature that you are going to need in your fishing chair is a rod holder. What good is taking a rest if you have to constantly think about the rod going off into the creek? A lot of chairs that are being built now have squeeze rod holders where you force the rod butt into the holder and it puts sufficient grip to keep it locked into place. These are by far the best rod holders to have on a chair, and as mentioned before, make sure to loosen your drag before you fall asleep so you aren't buying any rods!
