The Generation Of Lost Images

Many are predicting that this will be the generation of lost images.

So many people now take photographs on their camera phones and then never do anything with them. Perhaps they upload them to facebook, my-space or one of the many social networking sites and let the world (literally) see all of their cherished memories. Or perhaps store them on computers, CDs, DVD’s, worse still they just sit on the phones until the phone one day dies or is lost / stolen and then all of the captured memories are lost forever.

Already we here of virus’s killing hard drive’s, Facebook and other accounts being
hacked, deleted or lost. Supposing the social network site that all your memories are kept has a total meltdown. What then? Last year a well known games consul had a virus that hit all the networked consuls wiping their memories of saved games, images etc clean.

If the CD of your most magic moments gets cracked/corrupted or heaven forbid your computer gets stolen what then?

We have found over the last year or so, more and more people are asking for their wedding or family portrait images on disk, so that they can load them onto Facebook.

At first this was something that at Camera-a Photography, our studio we were not happy with, as it generally is unheard of for a professional photographer to give anything on
disk to a client. The copyright of any photograph stays with the photographer and not the client, unless the client spends a lot more money to purchase the copyright of the image. We have spent years perfecting our art with thousands spent on learning about light, light source, posing and how to create the perfect image and then thousands more on learning how to enhance those images through the use of software bringing out the best of any picture. The cost of a photograph from a professional is not in the print it is in the work that goes into making that print so to give copyright for the price of a print just isn’t fair. However times have changed and we need to keep up with the demands of today's clients, so we feel that we have come up with a great solution to benefit both the clients needs and us, the photographer.

The answer:- Our own company Facebook page

When this was first suggested to me, I was not completely thrilled with the idea, as I'm not particularly a 'Facebook' person but over time I have warmed to the idea and now quite like checking our Facebook page.

How this works - Any clients that comes into the studio and purchase images as prints, we will then happily put them onto our Facebook page in their own folder (only if they want this, of course), Clients can then "like" us and then tag their images and put comments.

So problem resolved? Well not quite.

Our other concern is still people do not do anything with their images.
Years and years ago, when a family came back from their holiday they would take in their rolls over film to get developed. Collect them a week later and also collect their free films given to them. Go home and sive through their photographs. Keep a few out to stick into a scrap book or album and then store the rest away, probably in the loft! Time would pass, maybe a house move would happen, and at some point the packs of photographs would reappear and happy memories of loved ones would re kindle those cherished memories of times, places and people.

With so many images that are going to be lost, the future is not looking bright when it comes to looking back over our lives. So we are urging people to take these precious memories and save them in something that generation after generation will be able to look back over and enjoy. Muse over what happened or what might have been and flick through a life story in real pages in real books. Here at Camera-a Photography we have spent a great deal of time sourcing the most amazing books from around the world. In
particular The Graphistudio Wedding Book, this is not just an album, but a timeless storybook. The books are made in Italy and offer a variety of different layouts and
covers, including the most beautiful silks and Italian leathers. They can be used not just for weddings, but all manner of events and functions. Christenings, retirement parties and it doesn’t even have to be the beautiful professional images that we take. Let us help you create a memory warehouse of your own images too.

So my message for you is don't let precious memories fade away by not capturing and recording the event. Make sure you create the perfect master piece and A life story of images for you and your future generations to treasure for ever.
