The Greatest Lesson That Can Be Learned In Business

Sometimes, the most painful lessons we learn in our careers are also the best ones. When we are new to the working world, we often harbor feelings of inadequacy. This leads us to prove to those at higher levels that we are worth it. We contribute our ideas and offer feedback, which is commendable, but we often do it in a forum or manner than is less than effective. In some cases, it can lead to us being humiliated.

Take, for example, an employee fresh out of school who is invited to attend a management meeting. This may go to the person’s head, leading to feelings of being “together” and on the road to success. What was once a humble and moldable individual is now someone who is stubborn and has an inflated ego. This may lead the person to do something regrettable, like telling an executive about a great idea in the meeting.

In many cases, everyone will stop breathing when this person is speaking. The executive, at this point, is probably very upset because he or she feels upstaged. What may follow is a confrontation that causes everyone in attendance to feel like crawling under the table. There will likely be comments regarding level of earnings and being “green” when it comes to business. If things get really bad, insinuations of overstepping boundaries may be made.

In most cases, hurt feelings will be inevitable and this can break an already insecure newbie. Rather than trying to prove to both themselves and upper management that they know something, those who are new to industry should sit back and learn from the experts. This holds true whether they are in a board meeting, a training class, or running their own online business.

Someone who has established a successful company usually has a lot to share. This often includes some painful lessons and many tips for success. Some of these people have taken what they know and committed it to writing or DVD. They offer it to those who are getting their feet wet in the business arena so the path of these newbies will be much smoother than theirs was.

Learning from the best usually makes any business undertaking less complicated and frustrating. It also positions the career for success because common pitfalls can be avoided. Anyone new to the business world would benefit from subscribing to such a program because the result should only be positive.
