The Illusion Of Greatness – How To Project Security On To Others By Projecting It On Yourself
So let’s get right down to it, illusions are all around us, all the time, when you read the newspaper or a magazine, when you look at the night sky and see the stars, when you feel pain, all these are illusions. When you read a magazine and you see a picture that you like, you just think you are seeing an image but what you’re really seeing is a collection of colored dots that when put together create the illusion of an image. When you look at the night sky and see the stars you might think that you’re seeing them as they are right now but you’re really watching an illusion of what they were many years ago in the past. When you feel pain your body is telling you that something is not right, but we can learn to tolerate it. So what all that has to do with building your confidence? Well, confidence is just that, an illusion, the bigger the illusion the greater the confidence and the security in yourself, and the more you trust in yourself the more others will do the same. If you tell yourself a lie many times over it becomes real, as real as you want it to be, once you create an illusion of what you want eventually stops’ being an illusion and it becomes real. Basically it all comes down to a mental game; the strongest in this case is not the physically gifted but the one with the most powerful mind. What I want you to do is to train your mind in to believing something you want and visualize yourself having it already and acting with the security that it belongs to you. If you forge in your mind that you really are what you desire and want to become, you will start to believe it and becomes true. In this case the illusion comes from within, first you believe in it, then you act like its real and others will follow. Confidence is contagious and people follow the ones that know or at least believe in what they’re doing. People admire the ones that take charge, that no matter what happens remain in control, calm, and always believing that it is possible, that they can handle it. Let’s say you are confronting a difficult situation, where everyone starts losing their minds because it’s too stressing for them or too intense. You will rise to the occasion if you do not let yourself be affected by your emotions and just analyze the problem on an objective level and try to find the solution, always keeping your cool; that is called creating the illusion of control. Everybody else will see you as the person to follow, the leader and soon the situation will be under control when you transmit your confidence to the rest to the group. This is a very important principle in leadership building; to visualize yourself, breaking all the mental barriers along the way and to project the security you want in yourself on to others. And remember, sometimes there is thin line between an illusion and reality.
