The Importance Of Wood And The Causes And Effects Of Deforestation

Wooden poles are very uncomplicated things, yet they are utilized for a variety of different purposes. Wood has been utilized for centuries for both fuel and as manufacturing materials. The wood is made into building material, like wooden poles, planks, ceiling boards and so on. They use these materials when developing houses and structures. Wood can also be used to make gear, weaponry, home furniture, packaging, artworks and paper. Wood has been a vital material within the manufacturing industry, used to build shelters, houses and boats. All boats were made out of wood until the late 19th century and continue to be a typical use today in boat manufacturing. Metal, steel and various other material are now used to build the most recent, modern boats, ships and submarines. Wood is still, of course, being used to construct pirate ships: I mean a pirate can not have a metal or steel ship; it's unfair against other pirates which should make it against the rules in the game of pirating!

All jokes aside: wood is one of Mother Nature's gifts to mankind. And, like most of the gifts we have received, we are destroying it. Rainforests worldwide are being destroyed as a result of a number of things. There's a lot of money to be made in the timber industry and the environment suffers for that. It is the greed of humankind that will ultimately cause our own deaths.

Deforestation, according to Wikipedia, is the elimination of a forest where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use. Examples of deforestation involve transformation of forestland to agriculture or city use. Woodlands are being demolished rapidly, generally for farming, mining and logging. Organizations destroy forests while logging for timber; yes, wooden poles, planks, ceiling boards etc., anything that can be used to construct or make something. Millions and millions of hectares forest are cut down annually, often illegally. If these people would only replace the valuable wood and resources they cut down, it might not be such a serious issue, but they don't: the most precious wood is cut down and not replaced. Mining companies are responsible for many forests being taken down and demolished. They cut down trees to remove rare metal and minerals. However, one of the greatest causes of deforestation is the fact that they are located in developing nations. As a result, the forests are destroyed by rich developers, companies and poor, landless people.

Deforestation has catastrophic effects on the environment: several plants and animals are forced to extinction, causing us to lose food and medicine. Additionally , it can cause soils and nourishing substances in the earth to wash away. When the trees are pulled out of the soil, it causes the soil to loosen up; exposing the natural and valuable soil to be washed away by heavy down pours, causing the soil to become infertile and useless. Deforestation also leads to global warming. Co2 is released into the environment. The co2 acts as a blanket, capturing the sun's heat and heating the earth.

Trees and forests are very important for the environment because they supply us with o2, minerals, medicines and food, so the next time you are looking for timber: wooden poles, planks, ceiling boards; anything created from wood; don't forget where it originated from and what was lost during the process.
