The Many Splendours Of A Drive In Western Australia

Many movies have highlighted this fact and have shown Australia as the ideal country to explore on road and as long as you have a good 4x4, water, spare tyres and petrol, you should be fine.

Western Australia in particular has many awe-inspiring stretches of wonderful scenic beauty that are a must visit. You can start from Perth and venture south. Within an hour, you should hit the Rockingham scenic stretch and as you keep to the coastline all the way to Safety Bay, you can take in the many pristine beaches as well as islands that Australia has always been famous for. You may even sight a dolphin in the waters if you are lucky.

The drive from Beverley and leading to County Peak is yet another wonderful drive when you will be able to appreciate the well planned Beverley streetscapes. County Peak is a volcano that is now extinct. You will enjoy the climb from where you can get a superb view of the nine shires, as well as the placid Yenyenning Lakes.

From here, you should head to the South West of Australia to get to Blackwood River. The way to Balingup and then to Bridgetown takes you through many walk trails, picnic spots and wineries where you can stop by if you wish to and pick up some vintage stuff.

As you go further to the south, the town of Pemberton, with its 48 kilometres Great Forest Trees Drive and strewn with superb karri, jarrah and marri forests, offers stunning visual beauty. The route also has many picnic spots with the one at Denmark being particularly impressive. The Porongurup, as well as the Stirling Ranges, provide the perfect backdrop for the many farmlands and ocean vistas. The Mount Shadforth Scenic Drive is another stretch that offers compelling views of the Wilson Inlet as well as the Southern Ocean.

From Perth, you can also take the South Western Highway that will take you to Bridgetown. On the way you can stop by at Pinjarra, which is an ideal place to have your morning break. This town is the oldest with many restored buildings and homes in Western Australia. You are sure to be impressed by the majestic architecture that lines the main street.

You can proceed towards Bridgetown and this journey should take you about a couple of hours. You simply cannot fail to notice the region’s many valleys and rolling hills as you move along this stretch. Bridgetown was at one point of time famous for its apple-growing activity and is situated along the perpetually flowing Blackwood River.
