New York City is a melting pot of diverse cultures. This is the reason why among all the places across the U.S., New York City stands unique and distinct. On every corner is a foreigner either busy working or foreigner on tour. Indeed, there are numberless magnificent New York attractions.
Modern is one great word to describe the way of life in NYC. If you are an art aficionado, you will simply enjoy its many art museums. The perfect place to whet your artistic apetite is the Museum of Modern Art, populary called the "MoMA." This huge museum is home to the best collection of modern Western masterpieces on the planet. You will find the works of various influential American and foreign artists. There are more than 300,000 books, over 150,000 individual paintings and drawings, and approximately 22,000 films.
A few familiar and important pieces that can be found in the MoMA are Claude Monet's Reflections of Clouds on the Water-Lily Pond and Pablo Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, Giorgio De Chirico, Love Song, and Henri Matisse, The Plum Blossoms. The museum also houses photography and designs from legendary designers.
The MoMA first started in 1929 renting humble quarters and since then has improved and become an icon in developing and collecting modernist art. The growth of MoMA has reached the point that it now has its own award-winning fine dining restaurant called The Modern.
As mentioned earlier, there are numberless New York attractions. Take for example the Empire State Building. Over 110 million people already visited this 102 story land mark. This is the tallest building in the state of New York with its state of the art outdoor observatory that has an impressive 360 degree view of the whole city. This makes it clear why this tower gets as many visitors as it has.
Another one of the great New York attractions to visit is the American Museum of Natural History - one of the largest and most celebrated museums in the world because of its many great exhibits. The museum is known for its Rose Center and Planetarium, The Art of the Diorama which recreates nature, Hall of Meteorites, and the famous Fossil Halls containing the fossils of a mammoth, a Tyrannosaurus rex, and a few other extinct mammals and dinosaurs.
New York also offers other museums such as the The Cloisters. This is the museum which contains thousands of European medieval works of art. Another attraction is the Guggenheim Museum which also holds 20th and 21st century art, impressionist, post-impressionist, early modern and contemporary art. And of course, the attraction which would make New York worse off of it without, the grand world-famous Statue of Liberty.
