My experience was positive overall. The advisor and office staff were consistently knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. The meeting began with the advisor giving a clear description on HOW investing with The Mutual Fund Store® worked. She said the services offered by TMFS were risk analysis, investment plan formulation, implementation, and quarterly and annual account monitoring. The advisor said convenience is the company’s main value proposition. At the end of the meeting, she said The Mutual Fund Store’s purpose is to serve customers who don’t have the time, desire or knowledge to do it themselves. My assumption about The Mutual Fund Store® was that it was an easy-to-use advisory firm aimed at the average Joe; my experience was close to that. The Mutual Fund Store’s fee-based advisory price structure and use of no-load mutual funds were straightforward and appealing. Its enrollment process and paperwork seemed on par with other brokerage firms in my experience - not shorter or simpler. It did not seem overtly aimed at individuals with fewer assets to invest in mutual funds or any other type of securities.
