Herbs are classified as one of the most effective plants that can be used as medicine. Various applications of herbs are already employed for various specific medical or health problems for thousands of years, and even some prehistoric evidence shows that man has already been chewing on these herbs for more than just food.
One of the common ways to prepare these herbs is to burn them, as it releases the beneficial compounds and chemicals used for medicine as gas, which is then inhaled by the person who takes the medicine. Tobacco and the cannabis plants are the most common herbs that are burned for their active ingredients, as both are psychoactive drugs that are used since the ancient times.
One great disadvantage of burning herbs is that along with the chemicals produced as gas, numerous harmful gases are also released. One of the most common harmful gases that are produced during combustion is the nefarious carbon monoxide, along with several other carcinogens, thus risking the smoker of various lung diseases each time he or she smokes these herbs.
It wasn’t until proper aromatherapy techniques, methods and apparatuses did the smoking era came to a time period of semi-hiatus (although the numbers of smokers are still undeniably large). Aromatherapy is the common method of using the extracts such as the essential oils that comes from herbs, usually for inhalation. It usually involves the heating the herb WITHOUT burning it through the use of modern vaporizers, enabling them to extract all the important active ingredients in their pure form, and without harmful substances that are caused by burning.
But most people would probably agree with me if I were to say that it is the great aroma of these herbs when used on herbal vaporizers that are truly the factors that made them love vaporizers. Many people claim and some have even proven the soothing benefits of the aroma that freshly whiffs out of the herbs heated in a vaporizer.
These aromas when combined with the effects of the essential oils that are produced in the heating process creates a sensational effect that typically alters one’s mood, cognitive function and general aspect of health, as most of the herbs taken by their pure form as active ingredients creates a relaxing effect, soothes your body, and even in some cases, such as when inhaling psychoactive ingredients, gets you on a natural “high” (not to mention that directly inhaling active ingredients puts them directly into the bloodstream by intrapulmonary absorption). It is a truly magnificent experience to those who want to experience the sweet healing sensation of herbs in a safe way.
If you would like to start using aromatherapy to enjoy your herbs, than you should think about trying to make a vaporizer before you go out and buy one. The cost of a vaporizer can be daunting to most people including myself, which is why I decided to make a homemade vaporizer and I've been loving it ever since.
