There have usually been companies who promote weight loss products that test certain agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission and the Food and Drug Administration. It all will depend on where you look, but it is not difficult to find ads that guarantee to get rid of fat from the system in record time. There are outrageous claims made by companies offering pills, patches and other things that melt away the fat almost overnight. You may need to remember, or know, that a great many of these items have not expressly been studied by the FDA. There is no guarantee that the FTC can put a halt to deceptive advertising simply because they are simply overwhelmed. If you do plenty of your own research, you will see that a lof so called herbal products have not been studied or approved for specific uses as marketed.

Our impression is many of these products prey on people who are desperate, and they are most likely to use these products. It is not out of the question for people to think something is proven to be safe just because it is on the shelf. It is true that a product can be unveiled using components with no record of human testing to validate they are safe for ingestion. It is not uncommon at all to see products with some herbal ingredients that may be unsafe for some people who use them. We all remember the news surrounding ephedra and the events leading to it being banned in the US. There are other herbs that could have genuine uses, but the hazards to people are not fully realized or recorded.

One very harmful ingredient is Phenylpropanolamine, and as of this writing it can be acquired online. This certain ingredient made the news about a decade ago when it was typically used in cold medicines and fat loss pills. But the common situation with something like this is it was sold under different names. Yet just a few of the problems with Phenylpropanolamine is that it "could" cause problems such as nervousness, fast heartbeat, high blood pressure, heart damage, heart attack and not surprisingly death in some instances. What we find most incredible is that this is still available for purchase with a basic search in the largest search engine in the world. The sad thing about it is not everyone is informed of the hazards involved with something like this, and they can still acquire it, today.

Personal safety is an private responsibility at some point, and there is only so much any governmental agency can do. Just think about the system that allows for a dangerous product to remain and be easily purchased so long after the facts are acknowledged. There just are no cutting corners with fat loss, and people need to recognize that sometimes you just can't have a fast and easy route to success. Sure, it takes effort to lose weight, but we all know it can be done. It is common knowledge how to reduce weight and live a healthy life, but take a look at all the products that are always out there.
