The Relevance Of Grief Counseling For People
With the passing of time, people slowly accept their losses and cope with their new lives. However, this is not always the case. For some people, the loss is too big to accept, and they fall deeper into grief and depression that may continue for years. Grief bereavement counseling are very helpful when it comes to any complications that might arise during grief. Because every person's loss is different, grief counseling is tailored for each individual. In most cases, the root cause of the problem is an individual's failure to express their grief. The counseling is merely an outlet for a person to get through the worst time of his life. The initial tests conducted to get them though their grief is to analyze the symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety. The typical symptoms that are connected with complicated grief are disbelief, detachment and unusually rude behavior. Based on the theory of cognitive behavior therapy, there are 3 processes that make up the extension of grief, Ignorance and disbelief of loss, Unrealistic interpretations and anxiety, and then Avoidance. For the grieving process to end, the two most important factors are patience and time. Grief is not a simple emotion, and even minor mistakes on counseling can end up bad for the grieving person. Grief bereavement counseling is also not for everyone. There should be enough comfort and trust between both parties in order to complete the process. The death of a loved one due to suicide is also a special case because the grieving party is more prone to psychiatric disorders. More experienced counselors often take on this responsibility because apart from the typical considerations such as mindset, attitude and comfort, distress is also very likely to trigger in the person. There are also some people whose main cause of the problem is their suffering from guilt. It could be the feeling of inability to do or say something to their loved one before death. If left unnoticed, their sorrow and frustration may grow inside them and change the course of their life for the worse. Dealing with grief and bereavement is a course that requires time, patience and the aid of loved ones. Learn more about the Sacred Dying Foundation and why you may want to have a vigil.
