The Right Applicant Tracking System For Your Switch

Switching jobs is no task for the faint hearted. People you’ve never met and policies you are not familiar with can be disorienting. This transition is only made harder when one must learn a new applicant tracking system (ATS). Most recruiters would not be phased by this, as new ATS training is quite a frequent part of their job. Transitioning to a new ATS is a process that has pros and cons.

I used to be an Agency Recruiter and there, everyone was trained the same for the recruiting process. It seemed that the only reasonable way to figure if a new Applicant Tracking System was needed, was to build the system in-house. That way, it was so simple to integrate the recruiters as they used the same procedures and training. The switch was as smooth as butter.
One might not realize it, but the amount of vendors competing in the Applicant Tracking space is incredible. The difference isn’t noticeable until the ease of usability is tested for all programs. Some of them are disorienting as it submerses its user into something totally different from what they had known. In order to fully understand a program, training is intense and the amount to learn is stressing. With the best applicant tracking system, the basic features and functions of the software will quickly fall into place. It is as easy to use and intuitive as people always say it is.

A Training Specialist should be more than accommodating to help you through the transition. If something isn’t right or should be changed, he or she should be there to make it happen. All recruiters have their own style and needs and each one will be met. A talent platform is something that can be configured however you want it. Want more specific folder statuses of the candidate profiles that are in the interviewing stage? Done. If anything doesn’t fit the way you work, it can literally be custom designed in minutes. Any apprehensions of using and getting familiar with a new ATS should be forgotten about. You will see that in just one day, you will be able to fit the whole program to you in addition to making your life easier by customizing email templates and icons on your desktop for key searches that you use daily.

The overall value that a talent platform offers is incomparable and will leave few doubts in your mind. The fanciness of other ATS’s is nothing to fawn over. They may sound cool but they mean nothing if you are not comfortable using the system. To guide you through a simple transition, you will need an applicant tracking system that is flexible to YOUR needs as a recruiter and to your recruiting process.
