The Right Approach In Teaching Your Preschoolers

Children between the age of four to six years old are in the most important phase of learning development. Experts call this phase as the formative years where children begins to discover their world. During this time, children are eager to learn and explore their world.

As we want only the best for our children that include quality education, we also want to develop their morals and values. We want a child with a sharp mind and a good heart. Schools these days are plagues with bullying incidents and violence that we get to sense a “non - child friendly” atmosphere in school. These untoward incidents make parents think of other options to educate their children.

If opting to homeschool, it is cardinal that parents should understand the policies and laws regarding home based education in their particular state. This is to be certain of complete adherence to the law governing home school education.

When considering homeschool education, it is important to make sure that there is a study room appropriate to teach the child and that there are programs and homeschool curriculum that is being followed. We cannot take away the fact that parents and children may differ in perception toward home based education. However, a rising number of parents have claimed that it made their children more prepared and relatively more advance to attend formal school such as grade school and high school. One of the factors affecting this is the close supervision of the teacher to the student as former's attention is not divided to multiple students.
For the homeschool education to work, it needs the cooperation of both the parent and the child. It provides opportunity to be creative, innovative and resourceful thus encourages a lot of thinking and hard work to both parties.

Many experts believe that involving the child in the decision making will make the home school experience successful. This way the child is hands on to learn and will realize the importance of the lesson the child is to take. Moreover, the child will feel accepted and it will open the communication lines between the parent and child.

The child can be involved by setting objectives of the discussion and providing ideas such as activities he/she is excited to make. Maybe a trip to museum or to a farm excites the child and should be considered as alternative classrooms where classes can be held. The topic discussion should be appropriate to the classroom setting as well. For example, a class in the kitchen can involve a discussion about the basic food groups or the garden when the subject is about life sciences. The key is to maintain an alive classroom atmosphere in order to get the child's attention in every discussion.

Homeschool is not for everyone though, single parents find home school education hard to sustain while parents who are exposed to risk situation and have social deviant behavior are discouraged from teaching their children.
