Whatever part of our lives we are in whether a student, a graduate looking for work, a new couple, growing family, family moved and grown, or into retirement, people all need a place to live in and it is estate agents who usually help with the search to find the appropriate accommodation for that particular phase of our lives. Estate agents are located in every town, on almost every corner, down the street from us somewhere will be the estate agent with pictures of houses, apartments, flats, studios, and workspaces. i.e. The places we need to live and work in. We all need a place to live in and in that space we would need the minimum of a bed to sleep, a room to wash and a place to cook and eat. And through our lives, it changes how much space we want to share with others. In the estate agent's this is where they specialise in finding the right place for us at these particular times of our lives. In most cases you will have gone to see an estate agent hoping to find the right place for you.

Sometimes people want a challenge, and would like to do their own property renovation. Often estate agents will have lovely pictures of renovated homes, not exactly what a keen home renovator is looking for. But the estate agent will have properties that they do not display in the window with the pictures of beautiful homes that most people expect to see. This is because having a dream house in the window is usually the most effective way of getting prospective customers to come in. If you ask the estate agent, they will be able to show you many properties that are in need of renovation and would present a good challenge to those people who are keen on DIY in the home and garden.

These properties may be very dilapidated indeed. They may be houses that have not seen a fresh coat of paint, or any other kind of DIY that normally happens, for decades. They may be houses that need a completely new kitchen, including fitted cupboards, plumbing, electrics and kitchen appliances such as cookers, fridges, freezers and washing machines. They may be properties that require a new bathroom, including the bath, hand basin, bidet, tiling, shower, shelving and heated towel rail.

Houses have so many challenges. They may need the floor sanded, the windows repaired, new lighting, switches, fuse boxes and electrical wiring, and all the many other things that keen DIY home renovators enjoy putting in.

Gardens, front and back, have their own challenges. If you are a keen garden renovator who is looking for a house with a lot of work to be done in the garden, this would be worth telling to your estate agent. Many people want a low maintenance garden, so these are in high demand from estate agents. If you enjoy the challenge of garden renovation, you will have many opportunities.
