Internet based affiliate marketing, Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing, depends strongly on the people who are in your team. Affiliate marketing by its structure relies heavily on your group and the quality of the relationships in it.

As the leader or head of the group the responsibility of building a strong successful and effective team in order to maximize the entire teams profits falls on you.


What makes a Great Team Player

A great team player is many things, but most importantly they are reliable, you can count on them to be there and to take responsibility. They are teachable, no one wants a team player who already knows it all anymore than they want a leader who is not open to new ideas.

Very importantly they are flexible. You do not want your team to be made of those who are easily led, you want those who are creative and can easily pull their own weight and can help motivate those around them.

An important aspect of a great team member is their personality. You do not want those who are rude or abrupt and disrespectful of others. Is their personality one you would want to be around or deal with? Team work has just as much to do with personalities as it does with work ethics and abilities.

Internet based affiliate marketing, MLM and Network marketing works best and grows strongest when your team is made up of individuals who are self starters and able to motivate themselves to action. Often those with an employee mindset are not really suited for a marketing business.

If a person does not have the ability to have self motivation, dedication and initiative you may find yourself having to prod them into action. You don't want to be constantly pulling someone along who is unable to find their own way.

Your marketing team should consist of mature, dedicated individuals who are not afraid to work a little harder than most knowing the financial rewards that are waiting for them.

Your Team Will Need to Be Motivated

Once you have built your team, it is your responsibility as the Team Leader to help keep your team focused and moving towards the ultimate goal. Internet based affiliate marketing depends strongly on building new accounts and affiliates, the same as any marketing business. So you must keep your team fired up and motivated to work hard.

When motivating your team always focus on the positives instead of the negatives. Focus on the results of a given action rather than the potential failure of not taking an action. As we all know, people respond much better to positive reinforcement than they do to negative reinforcement.

If you focus on the negatives such as 'we will loose money if we do not do such and such' your team can develop a negative outlook on your business.

By focusing instead on the positives such as 'we will make X amount of money when we hit our goal', your team will see the positives only and will have a desire to push forward with you.

As the leader you will need to lead by example. Online businesses often develop into passive income streams, but being a good leader you will not allow your own efforts to die down simply because your income has increased and has become steady.

Attaining a goal is never the end of it. Once one goal or a set of goals have been attained you need to set more goals and higher standards. Team motivation can drop when you simply maintain a goal but it will climb as new goals are set and excitement builds.

The essence of an Internet based affiliate marketing, Multi Level Marketing or networking business is your team that is made up of many are all working together to sell similar or the same products.

As the team leader it is up to you to make sure your team is working together rather than against each other. You do not want your team to be competing against each other.

To accomplish a feeling of team spirit you need team activities such as social gatherings of members that are close to each other, an online forum where not only is your business discussed but where people can meet to discuss what ever is on their minds.

Encourage your team to work together in their business and personal lives so your team can relate both on a business and personal level and can build a friendship with each other.

It will be up to you to set the standard for your team. Be excited about the business. Share your ideas and enthusiasm with others and always look forward. Listen to what the others have to say and be fair when making decisions, but always remain the motivating force and guiding light. They look to you and your efforts will not be in vain.
