The Secrets Of A Weight Loss Diet That Really Works
We're going to look at a few aspects of a weight loss diet that does really work and those are knowing why you overeat, portion control, eating slowly and keeping a diary. First of all, to lose weight, you need to understand why you are overweight in the first place. There can be any of a number of reasons, so think about your life. Are you depressed and therefore indulge in binge eating? Are you so busy that you never have time to sit down and eat a proper meal with a sensible portion of meat and vegetables? Do you hate exercise? Do you have a really sedentary job? If you answer "no" to all of these things, have you considered that you may be suffering from some sort of medical disorder, such as an underactive thyroid. If you think that may be the case, see a doctor immediately. He will be able to conduct suitable tests to ascertain if you have an illness which is causing you to put on weight or preventing you from losing it. If there's nothing medically wrong with you, then you should be able to lose weight and the easiest way to do this is to control what you put on your plate. If you always have an enormous portion which you can't burn off, then you will continue to put on weight. As a guideline for a main meal, 100 to 150 grams of meat, 100 to 150 grams of starch and unlimited green vegetables with a few carrots is a sensible amount to eat. If you must have gravy or sauce, have a couple of spoonfuls, rather than have your meal swim in it. If it makes you feel better, serve your meal on a smaller plate than you usually do; that way, you won't realise that you're eating less than usual. If you eat more slowly than usual, your stomach will feel full more quickly. If you think about this, it's logical. If you gulp down your meal, it will all hit your stomach at pretty much the same time but if you eat slowly, you will fill up gradually, so you won't need as much to eat. In addition, eating slowly is much better for your digestion! Another way of helping your weight loss efforts is to keep a diary of what you eat along with having a weekly weigh in. If you lose weight one week and not the next, analyse your diary and see what you ate which prevented you from losing weight.
