The Top 5 Keanu Reeves Films Playing On Pennsylvania Satellite Tv

Keanu Reeves has taken film lovers on many adventures over the years, from excellent trips through time and space to scary rides on a downtown bus. While he may not be the most accomplished thespian in Hollywood, he remains a favorite among film fans for his down-to-earth charm and general coolness. Here are Keanu’s five best films to check out on Pennsylvania satellite TV networks.

5. Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. There isn’t much to dislike about this joyous romp of a film which officially put Keanu on the map. Reeves seemed made for the part of a slacker who can see the cool part of anything. Throw in an antidote of straight-man perfection (George Carlin) and you have a comedy that hasn’t gotten too old even as the decades have drifted by. See it on any of the great satellite TV comedy channels.

4. Point Break. Watching this film, you’re guaranteed to get a greater appreciation for Gary Busey, not to mention Patrick Swayze. FBI man Busey recruits Reeves to go undercover as part of a sting operation for some bank-robbing surfers in California who wear masks of U.S. Presidents during their heists. Busey drops a lot of hilarious one-liners as he deals with Reeves’ stumbling while trying to learn to surf. Swayze is charismatic as the lead robber and this relatively pulpy film becomes intriguing by the end. It has maintained a solid audience on satellite TV over the years.

3. Speed. One of the smash hits of Reeves’ career is this action favorite which spawned an entire franchise. When a psycho (Dennis Hopper) plants a bomb on a bus, guaranteeing it will explode if the speed goes below 50 mph, cop Reeves jumps aboard and begins the race against slowing down. This film ingeniously takes a favorite trope of filmgoers -- the chase -- and makes it an entire movie.

2. The Matrix. Another franchise with the signature of Reeves all over it, The Matrix was such a cultural phenomenon it has few equals. Watch Reeves as Neo as he starts the rebellion against the machines for one of the biggest epic confrontations ever. It’s easy to see why this film grossed close to a half-billion dollars at the box office, as it thrills even on your television set in HD.

1. My Own Private Idaho. There have been few films made in the past twenty five years that can claim as significant an achievement as this independent gem by Gus Van Zant. Featuring Reeves as the son of a wealthy politician who has renounced the straight life for the sleaziest possible alternative, the film is actually a crafty reworking of Shakespeare’s Henry IV saga, complete with a Falstaff character. Above all, the performance by River Phoenix is enough to crush any jaded moviegoer. See this film uncut on the Independent Film Channel on Pennsylvania satellite TV.
