The Top Open Source Management Systems: And They’re Free

When you have a so-called “open source” it is meaning that the source code is available to be altered or edited. This makes it a great opportunity for developers

to enhance the application or program. Some require a fee and some are free.
There are many benefits that come from Content Management Systems. And you couldn’t ask for more: they’re free.
• Using WordPress
This is the one that I recommend to all. It’s a publishing app used for blogs and was made using MySQL and PHP. Tens of thousand of websites are using WordPress and it has become very widely known. There are a bunch of easy to use templates and plugins that can be used too.
• Using Joomla
This one uses MySQL to store data and is written using PHP. The features that it has are RSS feeds, page caching, news flashes, polls, blogs, search, you can print pages, and language support internationally. It’s a great source to publish content worldwide via the web.
This has been out for 5 years and there have been over two and a half million downloads from that time. There are many plugins that are free to use with Joomla.
• What about Drupal
Drupal has a wide use on the Internet as being a back end system. It is used for large sites like data.gov.uk and whitehouse.gov. This is a great one to use for collaboration with business and management. The distribution is done by the General Public License (GNU).
• Can’t Forget Mambo
This CMS platform is used for small websites to large ones. Mambo has become extremely easy to for users because of the many plugins they have. Mambo has shopping carts, tools for management of documents, e-commerce and forums, multimedia galleries, and much more. It used to be called MOS for Mambo Open Source.
• And Last but not Least,Movable Type
This one has been developed and honored as a publishing system for weblogs. Six Apart, the company who produced it, released it on the 8th of October in 2001. In 2007 of December, They re-licensed with the General Public License (GNU).
