The Top Plyometrics Equipment For Incredible Explosiveness
In my 20 plus years of training with plyometrics for increasing my vertical jump and explosive sprinting power here are the 5 pieces of equipment that in my opinion stand head and tales above the rest. Power Harness This piece of equipment is more so used for resistance training, but I decided to lump it in here because I consider it to be sort of a hybrid. Kind of plyometric, and definitely resistance training. The power harness is a 2-person piece of equipment that will require a partner. And the idea is you want someone to hold one end of the harness while you strap it on and get to work. There are several workouts you can do with this. I recommend sprinting and side lateral running as two workouts to do. If you stick with the power harness you'll notice your explosive leg power increase like never before. Jump Rope The jump rope has been one of my favorite pieces of equipment for a long time. I recommend you get a speed rope as it is more geared towards quickness and really spend some time getting great with a jump rope. With a jump rope you can vary the jumps to where you isolate one foot. And the faster you go the more explosiveness you will build. Plyo Boxes These boxes are great for developing maximum explosiveness in your legs and increasing your vertical jump. Boxes can be found in many different heights. I recommend starting out with boxes in the 1-2 foot range and going up to 3 foot boxes once you get better at it. Agility Ladders When it comes to speed and agility this piece of equipment is king. A lot of the football players train with this and it is excellent for improving coordination and explosiveness. Another thing I like about agility ladders is that the rungs are flat so there is minimal risk to injury with them. Another thing I like about agility ladders is they increase your sprinting speed as you are working on quick movements as you jump or step into and out of each rung. Cones What plyometric program is complete if it doesn't have cones? Cones are great for increasing explosiveness and you can use them to put together obstacle courses and work on your change of direction and agility. You can also work with cones on improving your jumping and speed. Banana Steps This is probably one of my favorites when it comes to working on lateral movement and quickness. These steps come in sizes from 6 inches all the way up to 2 feet or higher. And I think they work great if you jump over them sideways or laterally. These 5 pieces of equipment are some of the best plyometrics training apparatus around. Be sure to change up your workout and try others as well. What's so great about training with plyometrics is that they are so much fun and you get great results.
