The Truth About Spontaneity And You
Last week I woke up on Sunday and decided on the spur of the moment to go climb a local 900-meter high mountain. I just started walking for it, not knowing the roads or paths. Well, it took about 90 minutes to make any headway, and so it became dark on the way back. I didn't know the hiking path, and hit the slopes via a small village. I finally ended up on a slightly dangerous logging trail and to my disconcertment had to squeeze past half a dozen loggers on the narrow path, only one of whom greeted me. Finally, I disturbed a family of wild boars, who tore off through the bush, scaring me half out of my wits. But to tell the truth, I had a great time. Spontaneity has often put me in danger or uncomfortable positions, but my spontaneous experiences are always the most memorable and colorful ones. What's much worse is when someone plays up something to be really great, and it's actually a big fat letdown. That's why I've never taken my kids to Disneyland.
